Basic Barge Handling Skills - Split Screen
In this video we take you along with us while we move a bunker barge from our lay berth to a container ship. Using two cameras, you are able to see what the throttles are doing on the lower left, the rudder angle indicator in the middle bottom, and the steering joystick in the lower right hand side, all while the top part of your screen is what we see out of our window in the upper wheelhouse.

Role of tug boats and barges | Shaver Transportation | 2023 Wheat Export and Marketing Workshop
Shaver Transportation Company was founded in 1880 and the Shaver family continues to own and manage the business today. The company was one of the tour stops on the recent Wheat Export and Marketing Workshop, sponsored by the Nebraska Wheat Board.
Shaver is the oldest continuously operating family-owned tugboat company on the west coast.
Inland grain and bulk commodity transportation are a core business for Shaver Transportation. Shaver’s barges have a combined capacity of almost 69,800 short tons and tugs are capable of moving any freight by barge on the Columbia Snake River System.
Shaver barges are specially designed to transport grain and bulk commodities such as wheat, barley, soybeans, corn, canola and rapeseed.
